LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) ? The Humane Society of the United States has honored a Gwinnett County dog for heroism.
The society recognized a 6-year-old pit bull named Titan on Tuesday for helping save the life of owner Gloria Benton.
Lawrenceville jewelry store owner John Benton told WAGA-TV(http://bit.ly/OeZmZY ) that he was headed to work last July when he sent Titan back upstairs to check on his wife, who was recovering from back surgery. Titan became agitated and ran back and forth between the couple's bedroom and the front door. John Benton went upstairs and found his wife had suffered an aneurysm and fractured her skull. A doctor reported that she likely would have died if not found quickly.
The Humane Society said Titan is the second runner-up for the fifth Annual Dogs of Valor Awards.
